Philosophy and Approach: I believe that through guided facilitation everyone can reach an optimum state of health and happiness. I employ an eclectic approach with a preference to cognitive-behavioral and Jungian techniques. I base my relationship therapy on the Gottman technique. My areas of special training and expertise include showing men and women how to experience total health by connecting body, mind, and spirit. I support people in their desire to close the gap between where they are right now and where they want to be in the future.

Formal Education and Training: I have a bachelor’s degree in education from Virginia Wesleyan College, a master’s degree in education from Old Dominion University, a master’s degree in human services from Capella University, and a Ph.D. from LaCrosse University. I am a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon. I received my RoHun training from Delphi University and the Graham Institute of Self Awareness. I received my doctorate in transpersonal psychology from Lacrosse University. Major coursework included human growth and development, pragmatic and clinical interventions, relationship dynamics and professional orientation and ethics.

As a Licensee of the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, I abide by its Code of Ethics in addition to the National Board of Certified Counselors. Within in the state of Virginia I work as a coach/counselor. To maintain my license I am required to participate in continuing education by taking classes dealing with subjects relevant to this profession.

Fees: Like many professionals, my practice is a fee for service practice. Payment is due at the beginning or end of each session. The full fee for the session will be charged if an appointment is missed without a 24-hour cancellation notice. Sessions fees are $60 for a 50-minute therapeutic hour. I realize that on occasion you will not be able to make a scheduled appointment. You can call 757-414-7194 (VA) 541-525-9293 (OR) and leave a cancellation message on my voice mail. I do offer a sliding fee scale if requested. Sliding scale clients are people who have a limited ability to pay for these professional services. A sliding scale means that, within some boundaries, the client pays only what he or she can actually afford.  If qualified, the sliding scale ranges from $40 per session, on the low end, to $50 per session, on the high end. Your actual fee per session will be determined after consultation.
